Dark Malik

Dark Malik, or Yami Malik is an alternate personality created by the Pharaoh's memories being carved into Malik Ishtar's back. A creation of pure anger and hate, he is the embodiment of all of all of Malik's negative emotions and wants nothing more than the utter destruction of everything. The carvings that Rishid inflicted onto his own face act as a seal, keeping Dark Malik subdued as long as Rishid is around.

Dark Malik's first appearance is as Malik is recovering from the ritual. As he lashes out at Rishid, asking who he should hate, his face is over lapped with Dark Malik's. As soon as he sees Rishid's face, he calms.

Dark Malik's second appearance, and first time being in complete possession of Malik, is after Malik has convinced Isis to take him up to the surface for a day, something that is forbidden. When the pair return, they find Malik's father is punishing Rishid for Malik's disobedience, whipping him until he passes out. Upon seeing Rishid fall and his father moving to turn the whip onto him, Malik looses control and Yami Malik surfaces.

Dark Malik takes the Millennium Rod and turns on his father, killing him. (in the manga, he slices the carving off his back and places it on Rishid's, laughing that now Rishid can be part of the clan like he wanted to be.) As he moves to kill Rishid, Rishid wakes and Malik, upon seeing Rishid's face, returns to normal. Shaadii arrives soon after, telling Malik that his father's death is the Pharaoh's will, setting Malik on the path of revenge.

During Battle City, Rishid is struck down by Ra's anger, letting Dark Malik again resurface.

Wielding the Millennium Rod, Dark Malik initiates many Shadow Games, Trapping Mai Kujaku in a hourglass that in the anime, drains away her memories, and in the manga, is full of monsters that slowly fill up the lower chamber where she is. When Malik gets Dark Bakura to duel on his behalf to stop Dark Malik from killing Rishid, Yami Malik destroys him with The Winged Dragon of Ra's One Turn Kill, and Dark Bakura's body is eaten by the Darkness. Dark Malik's duel against Jounouchi is also a Shadow Game, with players feeling the pain of their monsters. Since Dark Malik says the pain invigorates him, he has no disadvantage, but Jounouchi falls from the pain and is declared dead in the japanese version. In the english version Joey is said to be "fighting the shadows".

The Shadow Game versus Dark Yuugi is similar to the one verses Dark Bakura, with a slight twist that their other selves will be eaten by the darkness instead, again leaving him with no penalty. Rishid revives during this duel, climbing up to the tower to plead with Malik to fight against his darkness. With the help of Dark Yuugi, Malik manages to take back control of himself and surrenders, ending the duel and sending Dark Malik to the Darkness.
