Hello, and welcome to Azurite's talk page. I'm the administrator and owner of this wiki, along with the rest of the seventh-star.net domain.

If you have any problems with the site, comments, or questions, feel free to add a comment to this page, and I'll try and get back to you as soon as possible. However, I request that you use this page as a last resort, because I'm much more prompt and likely to respond via email.

As of 3/16/08, I've cleaned out this page, because it was getting a bit unweildy and hard to find new messages. If you leave a message for me here, please make sure to link to any relevant pages (if you want me to look at something), give the "thread" you're starting an appropriate subject line (using the headline syntax) and sign/date your comment so I can get back to you. If I missed a message or change I should be aware of, please comment here!

Some Issues

Glad I could be of some help. ^^

Unfortunately I've already come across a few issues that I wanted to discuss with you about the shipping list. A few are debateable areas and a few are due to my current lack of HTML knowledge:

- Ceruleanshipping is still listed on the YGO Shippers List when it should be on the GX one.
- There's a fair bit of overlap on the pairings on the GX List due to some pairings having more than one shipping name. These are as follows:

  • Bunnyshipping and Egoshipping (Ed/Manjoume). I've already provided an explanation for the Egoshipping name as it fits the pairing but I can't seen to get my head around why this couple would be referred to as Bunnyshipping. I have my thoughts that it's probably a fangirl desire to see them dressed as playboy bunnies but there isn't anything in the canon to support the name. However it's not a popular pairing and I've seen it called by both names, Egoshipping more than Bunnyshipping though.
  • Dreamshipping and Ceruleanshipping (Johan/Asuka). It's a fanon pairing so either name could pass but there's already been an explanation given for Ceruleanshipping where I can't think of one for Dreamshipping.
  • Emperorshipping and Idolshipping (Fubuki/Ryou Marufuji). Both names do work but I've seen Idolshipping used a lot more than Emperorshipping.
  • Foolshipping and Valentineshipping (Manjoume/Asuka). This is possibly the most awkward one because it's a popular pairing, both names make sense and both names are widely used.

- Should both names be left for each pairing or one edited out?
-Some pairings appear on both the GX and YGO Lists when I didn't realise they did, these are Crystalshipping, Evilshipping, Hellshipping, Heroshipping and Idolshipping. I'm not sure how to change it so the GX one links to a different name than the YGO one.
-UnknownRomanceshipping (Misawa/Juudai). This may be a personal preference because I've always preferred shipping names to be one word instead of two but I felt the name didn't do much for the pairing so I looked around ff.net and found some fans referring to the pairing as Orangeshipping. Would it be worth changing?

Sorry for taking up so much of your time. ^^;

  • I could be out in left-field, but SamCyberCat, is that you? Remember to sign anything you post in someone's User Talk page, whomever you are! To answer your questions:
  1. I'll move the Ceruleanshipper one as soon as I'm done typing this.
  2. When in doubt for a pairing name, use the most common one. For those where they may very well be equally common, I suppose we can make an exception and include them both, but I'd pick one of them to be a redirect, and have an explanation about how it's also known by X name because... on the same page. We want to avoid article DUPLICATION, though, which would mean "the bulk of the same info," just with one or two name changes (as with pairing names).
  3. For those 'shipping names that exist on the original 'Shipper's List, leave them alone. Add a "(GX)" to the name of the GX version, and create the page using the Pairing Article Creator as usual.
  4. You're right pairing names generally ARE just one word. I'd go with Orangeshipping, especially if a Google or FFnet (etc.) search turned up more results for that one than the other. I think something like "UnknownRomance" is too vague, anyway. That's not to say other pairing names don't have downright weird names or explanations, but having a specific pairing be called "UnknownRomance" simply because, say, they're not widely known in fandom isn't good enough. The names were (originally) created to say something specific about the characters (and thus the pairing) in question, so if someone knew the name of the characters and the name of the pairing, they'd "get it" (why it was named such for those two characters) in a relatively short amount of time. I would, however, check more places before changing. See if there might be a fanlisting for the pairing, especially one listed on TheAnimeFanlistings.org, and go from there. --Azurite 03:48, 18 March 2008 (EDT)

Yes, sorry about that. I'm still trying to get the hang of the codes here so I didn't realise that the username wouldn't be there automatically. But I'll know for next time.

  1. I'll see to deleting the excess shipping names where possible as soon as I can then. I thought that might be the case but I didn't want to do so without checking first.
  2. All right then, that'll be fixed too. Some of them were like that before I'd signed up but I wasn't sure exactly how to deal with it.
  3. The Google search for the pairing turned up that there was a pairing in the Pokemon fandom using the name Orangeshipping but when searched specifically for GX it did reveal to be the name for Juudai/Misawa. Seeing as there's been shipping names used for both Pokemon and YGO before now I don't think that fact is much of an issue. There wasn't a fanlisting but I found people using the name on YouTube, FF.net and LiveJournal so I think it qualifies.

Thank you for the help. --SamCyberCat
