The Millennium Torque, known as the Millennium Necklace in the dub, is often the subject of much debate. The Japanese incorrectly calls this piece of jewelry a 首飾り(くびかざり - kubikazari) with the furigana タウク (tauku, often romanized as "tauk") to the side. However, the type of necklace that this is (a torque/torc, a style common in Northern Africa and in ancient Europe) is correctly called a トルク (toruku). If one were to extend the "o" sound, it would create a pronunciation similar to Yu-Gi-Oh's incorrect "Tauku."

A torque is a necklace fashioned out of twisted metal, often resembling a corded cable. Occassionally the "cables" are wound looser, so as to create a wider, more wild necklace, but most torques are smooth and stiff, requiring no clasp.

Isis Ishtar's Millennium Torque is one such item, though unlike other torques, it contains a wider pendant, the Eye of Horus seen on all of the Millennium items. Instead of having two downward "lashes" as seen on the Millennium Puzzle, the Torque has them curled upward and attaching to the corded cable of the necklace itself, perhaps to draw better attention to the eye in the center.

The power of the Millennium Torque is the power to see partially into the future, an ability used by Isis to great effect during the Battle City arc and also during the Memory World arc, when her previous incarnation, the Priestess Isis used its abilities to help save the Pharaoh. However, in Battle City, Isis Ishtar learned that the Torque's powers are not guaranteed, as Seto Kaiba went against Isis' predictions by not using the God of Obelisk in an attempt to defeat her in their Battle City quarter-final duel. After Battle City, Isis gave the Torque to Yuugi. He later returned to Egypt and placed the Torque in the Stone of Memory with the other Millennium Items, in order to test if Dark Yuugi was truly ready to be separated from Yuugi.
