Manga universe
Hiroto Honda had a powerful crush on her, and so Katsuya Jounouchi suggested that they ask Yuugi Mutou for advice. Honda was extremely relcutant, but when Yuugi and the boys went to the Turtle Game Store, owner and Yuugi's grandfather Sugoroku Mutou suggested that they use a blank puzzle to reveal Honda's feelings for Miho. Honda told Yuugi what to write on the puzzle, and Jounouchi snuck it into Miho's desk, but their teacher discovered it before Miho had a chance to open the present and assemble it. The teacher decided to assemble it and find out who the perpetrator was, but Yuugi, Honda, and Jounouchi all took credit for the puzzle being in Miho's desk in their own way. Even after Yuugi challenged the teacher to a shadow game, Miho rejected Honda's feelings.
Anime universe
Miho only exists in the Toei animation universe, where she is a supporting character. Far from the shy, quiet, librarian's aid from the manga, First Series Miho is very talkative and a stereotypical girl in many respects. She talks in a high pitched voice and uses 3rd person (a common thing with Japanese school girls who are trying to be cute) and is a gold digger, her most commonly uttered phrase being: "I want." She is good friends with Anzu Mazaki. While Honda is still head over heals for Miho in first series, Miho seems to mostly only like him for what she can get from him and will drop him at the sight of another boy with something else to offer. In the course of the series she develops major crushes on a secret admirer (in episode 11, who turns out to be a creepy, childish college student, which kills her crush), Seto Kaiba (in episode 3) and Ryou Bakura (episode 19). In many episodes, the soap opera of Miho's crushes is present in the background and is often part of the plot of the day. In the Toei anime, the puzzle arc never occurred between Miho and Honda; rather, it occurred between another schoolgirl and Jounouchi, and Miho and Anzu both took credit for the schoolgirl's secret present, rather than Yuugi and Jounouchi helping out Honda.
