- A suggestion has been made to incorporate "other" links in the 'shipper's list templates, for sites that include other pairing-related works outside of fanfiction, author profiles, and C2s. For example, fanart, icon posts, communities, and so forth. What do you think of this idea? It would involve changing a number of templates, and ensuring that those pages which were already created using the old system were updated and had at least one of these types of links. Please discuss on this page's Talk page.

- The Article Content Policy has been updated with clarified (and new) rules regarding Original Characters and any fanworks not related to canon characters, as well as clarification about the GX Shipper's List and pairings. Please review them! Articles found in violation of the latest Article Content Policies will be modified, protected, and possibly deleted!

TO DO
- Change all pages using dub names as titles to the original Japanese names, following our site's Article Policy on romanization. This means that there shouldn't be pages linking to these dub names either, as those pages will simply redirect to the Japanese name-titled page. This also means that pages already written using the dub names will have to be altered content-wise, and most likely on other pages where they might be mentioned, such as the Shipper's List, footers, categories, and so forth.
- Prevent pages from being orphaned. Pages should be cross-linked across the site from at least one other page.
- Make sure any Card Articles are not duplicated on pages titled with the card number. Instead, the card number should redirect to the page with the card name as the title. For the sake of this Wiki, we use TCG names for all cards and gameplay terminology, except for those cards, rulings, and gameplay issues that do not exist anywhere but the OCG.
- Get more information on Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX, including characters, pairing names for the Shipper's List, and so forth.

TO DO
- Finish copying over the updated files for the Card Article Creators and similar "article generators," along with display templates, like those for the Nav Boxes.
- Upload images for existing card articles. You can check which articles need this by looking for pages that contain the link "if the image does not exist, delete this line."
- Make sure that existing card articles have appropriate romaji and ruby text over or next to any Japanese characters.
- More coming soon...

We've upgraded to MediaWiki 1.11.0. This version might cause some errors with some extensions, but I believe I've disabled the only one that was causing a major internal error. Still, if you spot any oddities anywhere (strange errors, that is, not just normal oddities like missing pages), let me know by commenting on this page's Discussion page or on my own Discussion page.
A big thanks goes to TwoTailedFox for helping spot the error in one of our skin .js files that was causing the Collapsible Tables code to double up on our Card Creators. We'll be getting the templates for that updated soon!--Azurite 02:38, 16 September 2007 (EDT)

After a brief period of downtime, we're back! We're now using Short URLs, which should make articles easier to find and link to from outside this Wiki. The change may have caused some linking errors with internal links (links to other articles here on the Wiki), so if you spot an older article that seems to have bad links, try editing the page WITHOUT MAKING ANY CHANGES (if none are necessary) and saving it. The new page should have functioning links. Be sure to refresh/clear your browser's cache just to be sure!

We've upgraded to MediaWiki 1.10.1 without any problems-- huzzah! Hopefully this will mean increased compatibility with our extensions as we continue to add them. If you've seen the new CharInsert boxes, you may have noticed an option for "Ruby" text-- that's for the small Japanese characters that appear above kanji, or the Chinese characters. You'll see these mainly for use in card names, but also for some character names, the Millennium Items, and similar translations. This allows us to display both the Japanese pronunciation AND the Japanese kanji characters. However, it will require Internet Explorer OR this Firefox extension (works for versions 1.0 to 2.0.0.*) Users of other browsers, you should see the Japanese hiragana (pronunciation) in parentheses; if you do not or are having other difficulties seeing the Ruby text, please start a thread on the Discussion/Talk page of the appropriate article, or let me know by commenting on my personal Discussion page.
The best case scenario for the Ruby text would be to have the base text (the kanji) with two separate "Ruby" text sections-- one above, for the Japanese pronunciation (the furigana, or small hiragana characters/the pronunciation), and one below, for the romanization, or pronunciation of the word in English letters (for those who cannot read Japanese). However, I'm not 100% sure that all of the Ruby XHTML characters are supported by the installed MediaWiki extension, so I'll be playing around with it and seeing what our capabilities are. In the meantime, if you need to insert Japanese characters, remember to use the "Adding Ruby text" link in the CharInsert box below the editing box. You MUST have some form of Japanese input in order to type in Japanese! For Windows users, this is the Japanese IME, which can either be downloaded from Microsoft's website or enabled in your Regional/Language Preferences. Mac users can simply select the Japanese flag from their dropdown menu on their toolbar, provided they've set Japan as one of the languages in their System Preferences pane. In both instances, a working knowledge of Japanese pronunciation is required to input the proper characters. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TYPE IN JAPANESE IF YOU ARE NOT SURE OF WHAT YOU ARE INPUTTING!
Finally, we've also added some new templates for Quotes, which I hope to be used on Character Profile pages and in similar places (such as for the upcoming "Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series" pages). The template code is, of course, {{quote|Your quote here!}}.
If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, etc., start a thread on the Discussion page of this article!

We're progressing along with updating WikiFic and adding important extensions this week. Newest is the CharInsert function, which allows you to easily insert special characters and WikiCode. The JavaScript box will be displayed BELOW the edit box, so be sure to look for it if you need to insert any special characters! If you have JavaScript disabled, the box will NOT display. Make sure to enable JavaScript for this domain (seventh-star.net) to use the box.

I have yet to finish adding the FancyCaptcha extension, but our server does have Python, so I should be able to get it working soon. If you have any experience adding Wiki extensions and wish to help WikiFic out, please let me know by commenting on my discussion page!
I've also added a new section to the Article Content Policy regarding the use of names. The Pharaoh Atem article, specifically, has some points mentioned in the Discussion page. If there are names NOT mentioned in the ACP, be sure to add them to the discussion page OF THAT ARTICLE so I can get them added as soon as possible. Be sure to provide a valid reason why there should be rule attached to that name.
Finally, make sure that when you generate articles using any of our Inputboxes (for TCG, OCG, anime/manga cards, pairings, and more) that you DO NOT alter the content pre-generated by the inputbox. Only edit what the template says to, which includes things marked with "Insert text here" or similar wording. NEVER remove things like brackets, equal signs, asterisks, and so on, or you will mess up the coding of the article!

I've added the ConfirmEdit and Bad Behavior extension, and hopefully soon I'll have the FancyCaptcha extension to further help reduce spam. In the past two days I had to block 12 users and delete 37 spam pages. Once again, if you spot any suspicious behavior, pages or other activity, be sure to let me know!
The ConfirmEdit extension will ask you to verify your identity before you make any edits. I apologize if this inconveniences you, but it's to make sure we only have legitimate articles in our database, NOT spam! The Bad Behavior extension is not currently extended so I can see the logfiles of what it does; hopefully a revision of that extension will be released so that it is compatible with 1.10.x soon.
As of 7/29/07
I've added the SpamBlacklist extension, which will hopefully cut down on the amount of spam pages here on WikiFic. If you spot any pages that contain suspicious content, or users that don't seem to be contributing any real content, please be sure to let me know!
WikiHiero has yet to get working; hopefully that'll be resolved eventually, but it's not a top priority, since very few pages here would contain hieroglyphs. As more changes are made, you'll see updates here. Stay tuned!

We've upgraded to PHP5 using CGI and MediaWiki 1.10.0! I've also re-added the Infobox template and ParserFunctions extension, so hopefully we'll be seeing some Infoboxes soon, added to our more general pages. You might notice a lot of other changes thanks to the upgrade, including additional editing buttons available, and more extensions (I'm hoping to finally get the WikiHiero extension working).
I've also added some more info to the WikiFic:Article Content Policy page to include rules about other websites/links to them, use of Japanese/romanization in articles, and proper link coding.
I'm also looking to start some pages on "How to" do various things here on WikiFic. What are people finding the most confusing, complicated, or difficult? Let me know by adding to the Discussion page of this page so I can start implementing those pages if necessary. I'm considering pages on...
- How to do redirects, and when to use them
- How to include templates, including disambiguation pages, categories, infoboxes, spoilers, and more
- How to link to websites NOT on the Wiki
Suggestions and comments are gladly appreciated! --Azurite 17:54, 9 July 2007 (EDT)

- The Card Article Creator generator and Pairing Article Creators have both been rolled out and are working splendidly. The Card Article Creators can be found on the main page, while the Pairing Article Creators are on the Shipper's List and on the sections of the Shipper's List, such as Shipper's List A-E and so on. When using the Pairing Article Creators, please use the generator, rather than clicking on any red links on the Shipper's List or on Wanted Pages. This helps us streamline the pages so they fit our requirement.

- The inputbox extension works and as soon as we get some necessary images for the templates (these would be things like card type icons), we'll roll out the Card Article Creator generator, which you'll be able to use to create articles about all the cards in the TCG, OCG, anime, and manga!
As of 3/25/07
- We've updated to the latest stable version possible for this server (which is still running PHP4, and has no future plans of upgrading as of now): 1.6.10. The extensions installed yesterday (see below) still are not working; we're looking into getting assistance with them.
As of 3/24/07
- Get inputbox extension to work - working on using it to have "article creation" text boxes to make article creation easier.
- Get WikiHiero extension to work - so we can display relevant hieroglyphs.
Currently, WikiFic is working on getting as many pages completed as possible. To see what pages we need the most, click on the bottom toolbox (on the left hand side of the page) and click on Special Pages, then on Wanted Pages. Feel free to click on any red links you see and start typing information about the character/item/place/event/etc. in that blank box. Check out similar pages first so you get a good idea of what we're looking for, and make sure to use the Wiki Tags, available in the button toolbar on the top of every Wiki Edit page.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to start them in the appropriate Discussion area (the second tab on the top of a page).
